Bonsai
School
With the gentle push of friends and a little shove
from my dear friend, Craig Coussins, I have decided to begin teaching what I have learned over the past more than 42 years
of experience. I have had the pleasure of learning the art from more than 55 well known bonsai artists over the
years either through workshops, lectures or demos. Names such as John Naka, Danny Use, Bon Oki, Warren Hill, Craig
Coussins, Bjorn Bjorholm and Ryan Neil are on that list.
My first
try at this will be at the end of January 2011. I decided to keep the offer local for this first class
to see how it goes. It is a 6 part course, meeting for 6 hours, one Saturday a month, skipping a few months throughout
the year. The total for the course is $350.00.
I am very excited about the possibility of expanding this venture and hope to offer even more in 2012.
Workshop Saturdays
I have
received a lot of questions about opening my studion and nursery on a Saturday or 2 per month in order for my students and
customers to come by for a few hours so that I may offer my knowledge and experience in making their bonsai better.
During those days you can bring your tree(s) by for restying, repotting, health assessment, etc. I will charge
$30.00 for 3 hours. Either morning or afternoon sessions will be available. Of course I will have all bonsai
supplies for sale at those sessions and we can settle up on your tab before you go. I got this idea from Danny
Use who does this almost every Saturday. I am currently developing the schedule and will post it here as soon
as it is nailed down.
